The legendary machine gun of the Vietnam War, the “Pig” as it was affectionately referred to. Still in service around the world, and better than ever in the M60E4 configuration. Civilian owners can learn to upgrade their guns at LMO, and even do the project as part of a class. The class will start with a goal overview, then move into identification of the components of the system, and practical (hands on) training for disasembly. Students are taught proper field stripping and lubrication procedures for various environments. They are taught operator inspection of the weapon. When the students are proficient they are moved into Armorer level disassembly, with discussion of proper inspection and maintenance of the components. Students then reassemble the guns and do proper function checks. Final training is done on proper gauging techniques including receiver stretch gauging, so that the armorer knows the condition of weapons under his control.
