The US M240 and M249 machine guns are being taught together in these two classes, three days each. These are classroom only, live fire range time can be added for an additional charge ( Range time, ammunition quantity and cost, etc). Class begins with an introduction of the course and then technical and historical development of the M249 and Minimi systems, drawing examples from the LMO Working Reference Collection. Then the class is trained in the identification and technical specifications of the components of the system, followed by practical (hands on) training. This begins with simple disassembly of components and moves into complete disassembly and reassembly of the system at armorer level. Topics covered during the class include proper lubrication in various environments, function checks, gauging and operation procedure.  We will do a brief history of the designs and pull from the reference collection the guns these designs were derived from. On day two of the class, students move into the M240 system. This is the US variant of the venerable and reliable MAG 58. This class follows the same schedule and depth as the M249 section. M240 and M249 classes can be provided as stand alone courses.
